Boroughmuir Rugby S2's: 54 -  3 :Biggar S2's

After a couple of weeks off with the October holidays, it was good to head down the road to Hartreemill to face Biggar for the first time since P7 Mini rugby. With a strong wind and rain showers it was going to be a testing afternoon for both teams.

Muir managed a score straight from the kick-off after a knock-on from Biggar and a quick pass off the grass to our winger who outpaced the Biggar defence. The rucks and contesting at the breakdown were much better from Muir as they retained and gained ball. The tackles were coming in strong from both teams but Muir's quick passing and running play enabled them to run in 5 unanswered tries by the end of the first period. 1st Third (0 - 17)

Muir continued in the same way in the 2nd Period although playing more in to the cross-wind. More pressure and strong running brought a further 4 tries before Biggar crossed the Muir line after a period of good pressure. 2nd Third (3 - 32)

The last 20 mins were again advantage to Muir as they continued putting pressure on the Biggar defence. Muir had to work hard for their scores and the Muir overall handling and passing was excellent all game despite the conditions with Muir finishing the match strongly with 6 more tries. Final score 54 - 3 to Muir.

Having the three periods gave Muir a chance to give some players more game time and try different combinations. A special mention must go to Ewan & Luke who helped out in the front row due to a shortage of props and performed really well.

Credit must also be given to Biggar, who despite the scoreline never gave up and played with great determination & spirit throughout.

Thanks to Biggar for their hospitality and to the Muir support who braved the conditions to watch their team play some great rugby. Next Sunday the S2's take the trip across town to Goldenacre to take on Heriots.

Mini's away at Barnton against RHC & Dalkeith

P6 Report

Well it was a blustery day at the Royal High with a three way set of games against Dalkeith and RHC Cougars.

With a wide expansive track to run on the boys had Dalkeith up first and were quick off the mark with a couple of well worked tries. By half time they had built up a rack of tries.Turning to have the wind at their backs the boys maintained the same mix of play to run in a further rack of tries to win convincingly and not concede any.

After a quick break they were back on against RHC Cougars. A similar expansive game, backed up with some quality rucking saw them again turn at half time having built up a rack of tries, with the winds at their backs, follow up with another rack of tries and not concede any.

It was a solid display and one that stands them in good stead for the trip to Currie next week.
