It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of our oldest member George Massie this afternoon following a short illness.
George was a distinguished First XV player with Lasswade and joined Boroughmuir as a social member & supporter when his younger brother Stewart was playing for the club.
He was for many years the Social Convener in the 70's & 80's organising dances,discos,Christmas lunches,Supper Nights and golf outings and in the process raised thousands of Pounds for the club
He was a real clubman and even took time out of a trip to Australia to present a club plaque to the President of Townsville Rugby Club.They had played us a few months earlier in not untypical Boroughmuir fashion we did not have a plaque to hand when they presented the club with a Townsville plaque !!
He will be much missed at Meggetland a true Gentleman
Our thoughts are with his wife Alison and his children Susan & George at this sad time
