Boroughmuir Rugby has had a rich and long tradition as a club who welcomes players from all over the world. Throughout the club’s history Boroughmuir has been home to a large number of visiting players, as they travel across the world and still find time to pull on a pair of boots and throw a ball around the paddock.
Over the years, Boroughmuir Rugby has been fortunate to host players from Samoa, Australia, Ireland, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Poland, Canada, Italy and New Zealand to name just a few.
Two experienced players who have experienced first-hand the hospitality of Boroughmuir, Andy Rose (Zimbabwe) and Justin Tito (New Zealand) alongside Boroughmuir Great, Ali Warnock presented Boroughmuir Rugby a framed Bill McLaren Final ‘Final’ picture which celebrates one of the many achievements in the clubs’ history. Bill Noble, President of Boroughmuir Rugby accepted it on behalf of the members.
Captain Andy Rose said “Boroughmuir has been a great place for me, for these young guys travelling away from home for the first time, it has been the welcoming environment at Boroughmuir and has helped me build some mates quickly and really enjoy my time here”
President Bill Noble said “Boroughmuir has always had our doors open for any player wanting to play rugby. The contribution to the club both on and off the field by these young men travelling the world has been a great, positive experience for us”.
One of Boroughmuir’s most experience players, Ali Warnock commented “There is a place for all levels of rugby at Boroughmuir for those players coming to Edinburgh. Those guys who travel specifically for rugby or those who are just over for their OE (Overseas Experience) bring a new dimension to the game for us. I’ve made so many life long friends from all over the world by just playing at Muir”.
