U16 V Kelso
Today was the semi final of the regional shield for the U16 Muir side against Kelso.
Kelso arrived with a large team and kicked off into the wind. Their big forwards started to apply early pressure but the Muir defence held in the 22 and Kelso were kept out.
Once the Muir forwards got warmed up there was some strong aggressive play and the backs started to get a good supply of ball. The first Muir try came half way through the first half from Wood after some strong support play and a good break in the mid field. A further 2 tries came from McDonagh on the wing.
At half time the team were 3 tries to 1 up. The 2nd half into the wind saw Muir take command and put in a further 3 tries from Stoddart, Gilligan and Kay (I'm sure there was a 4th from McDonagh). Muir won on a freezing day at Meggetland and now have a chance to win the shield at Murrayfield.
