Last weekend saw the Edinburgh 7s Festival being held at Meggetland. The goal of the weekend was to show that participation in sports from any age can be fun and form part of a healthy lifestyle.
The Edinburgh 7s Festival was supported by Edinburgh Leisure, Boroughmuir Rugby and Community Sports Club and a number of Scottish Sporting Associations who contributed towards the successful weekend.
Teams from all over the UK travelled to Edinburgh to par take in the sports and enjoy the sights that Edinburgh has to offer.
Meggetland residents Bruce R said,
“My family and I have had a great time here this weekend. We knew the event was coming up for a number of weeks, but getting the free passes through the letter box was a very nice gesture so we thought we would bring our friends and family down. It is really good to see so many different sports and the kids have really enjoyed the festival atmosphere, a really family friendly environment. Well done to the organisers, looking forward to it again next year.”
Visitors Dario and Brenda said,
“We heard about this community event on the radio and wanted to see what it had to offer. Living on Meggetland Wynd, we knew of the facilities that Meggetland offered but it is great to see so many sports at once. The weather, bars, music, food and even the Dodge Ball has been spot on.”
Participants in the sports, from Hockey, Netball, Rugby and even Beach Volleyball all said their experience of Meggetland and the Edinburgh 7s Festival was top class.
