Brewing Success in the Heart of Meggetland
On Monday the 10th March we will see the launch of our new Café/Venue, The Canalside.
The café project, a result of collaboration between Boroughmuir Rugby and Community Sports Club (BR&CSC), Social Enterprise Scotland and Social Investment Scotland, will open the doors to a large number of sporting and community clubs in the South West of Edinburgh to now have a venue to call their home.
Chairperson of BR&CSC, Bill Watson commented:
“Two years ago, our new Board was appointed to build a more self-sustainable club and to provide a home for all community sports in the southwest of Edinburgh. The completion of this café is a result of months of hard work and shows Boroughmuir's commitment to the sporting success in our community.”
Bill went on to say:
“These are exciting times for our club leading up to the Commonwealth Game this year, we are confident we can support the legacy programme of a new generation of sporting heroes to come as a result.”
Community consultation has been instrumental in transforming the venue from a traditional rugby club, to an attractive environment for everyone wishing to take advantage of the unique café culture with good coffee and wholesome food.
Boroughmuir Rugby members will be very pleased to see the results of the refurbishments, as comments from those working to prepare the venue for opening have all been very positive.
Venue Manager Claire Corrieri commented:
"We are very happy to be part of such an exciting project. This is one of the most vibrant and challenging projects I have been part of and I know the team are really looking forward to serving a wide range of new and existing customers to demonstrate our new cafe skills."
Over the next few weeks, there will be a series of launch events being run. It all starts with the 'Soft Launch Opening' on the 10th March, going onto a 'Launch Party' especially for Boroughmuir Members and Meggetland Sports and Community Users on the 21st of March and then concluding with a 'Formal Event' with Key Stakeholders and invited guests from the Business Community that contributed the funding to make the cafe possible.
The BR&CSC Board would like to thank all members for their patience over the last few months as work was underway to refurbish the venue.
They would also like to invite all members, friends and family to come and visit the new Cafe and provide feedback to the team on what you think of your new venue?!
Don't forget, we are still looking for donations to help support the purchase of essential equipment for the Cafe. You can help donating by click here.
