Boroughmuir Rugby S2: 31 - 13: Perthshire RFC S2

The S2's headed to Perth for the first time since 2010 when they were there as P4's at Perth's Mini Tournament.

The weather turned out much better than the forecast and although on the cold side, conditions were great at North Inch for a game of rugby in December.

Muir were very quickly out the blocks and after a succession of quick rucks the ball was moved wide for Muir's full back to score in the corner for the first try of the game. The first period had Muir in the ascendancy and they were playing a very fast flowing game. The tackling and rucks were improved from previous weeks and getting quick, good ball out to the back line gave Muir a lot of chances and were making Perthshire work very hard in defence. Great tackling and pressure enabled Muir to run in 6 unanswered tries with a very solid performance in the first 20 mins. (1st Period: 22 - 0)

Muir made several changes for the 2nd period and Perthshire came back strongly managing to get more possession and territory. Muir's structure became a bit loose compared to the first period and Perthshire were winning more ball in the contact area. Muir couldn't find the same continuity they had and despite some determined play, a few mistakes and missed tackles enabled Perthshire to cross the Muir line three times. (2nd Period: 22- 10)

In the final period, Muir managed to get back in to the game and started playing with more intensity again. Much more like the 1st period and Muir were back competing at the breakdown and playing a better passing game again. A very competitive last period from both teams saw Muir win the period by 3 tries to 1. Overall a very good performance against a solid Perthshire side and Muir need to make sure they play rugby for the whole game.(Final Result: 31 - 13)

Thanks again to our big support who always come along in all weathers and also to Perthshire for having us up again and for their hospitality.
