The conditions turned out to be a good day for winter rugby on Saturday with both Heriots 2XV and Jed Forrest 2XV visiting Meggetland.
Heriots have been the form team in the National Reserve League 1 this season and were looking to continue their good form against the Boroughmuir Magic 2s.
The Magic 2s, down from last week's loss against Gala had taken the week to focus on the areas that they needed to work on, this resulting in a really good match for the spectators.
It came down to a final kick near the end of the game for the Magic 2s to take and hold on to the slender lead winning 38-35.
The Boroughmuir Bears hosted Jed Forest 2XV in the other home game this weekend. The Bears looking to hold on to that top spot on the league knew this would be a tough game with Jed Forest having an improved run in form in the 2nd half of the season.
Both teams played to the conditions and learnt very quickly the style the official wanted to control the game at. With the wind not playing a factor in the game, both teams looked to run and attack as much as possible.
The climax of the game came in the final 10 mins with a penalty to the Bears giving a slender 3 point lead. Jed fought their way back up the field and showed real composure to camp and launch wave after wave against the Bear's defence.
From the line out a short pass to the outside channel, the Jed forwards stuck in to get over the line and in the final minute grab the try, well deserved for their hard work.

Unfortunately the Colts match against Stirling was called Off due to frozen pitches at Bridgehaugh.
Next games see the Magic 2s away to Aberdeen and the Bears at home to Kelso A, both on the 7th Feb.
