The club are saddened to hear of the death of Jimmy Armstrong, a former player who went on to become president of Boroughmuir RFC in 1978/79.
Though never a regular 1st XV player, Jimmy was a fiery flanker who captained the 2nd XV in 1949/50 when they had a very successful season, winning 18 of their 22 games.
Jimmy, who ran a very successful grain company for many years, was never a shrinking violet about offering his opinion and there were some lively discussions in the Golf Tavern and old Boroughmuir clubhouse when he was about.
He was also a very keen golfer and a keen member of the Royal Burgess Golfing Society.
Our condolences go to his family.
