Codes of Conduct

Boroughmuir Rugby Academy supports and requires all members to observe the following standards of practice relevant to their involvement within the Academy:

Any concern raised about any breach of these Codes of Conduct will be taken seriously and responded to appropriately by Boroughmuir Rugby Academy.

Who is a Child?

In Scotland, a child is legally an adult when they turn 16, however this can be extended to 18 under certain circumstances but it is important to know that Scottish Rugby policy (and therefore Boroughmuir Rugby Academy policy) covers all players to the age of 18 due to the position of trust that coaches and volunteers are in.

17 Year Olds Playing Adult Rugby

This policy covers all players under the age of 18. However, it is recognised that some players under the age of 18 but over the age of 16 can, with the necessary consents as per our Age Banding Policies, play adult rugby.

Those dealing with players under 18 who are playing up a level must always be mindful of the player’s safety and wellbeing.

However, for the purposes of this policy, a player who is training or playing with an adult team, having obtained the necessary consents for playing up a level is treated as an adult and the detail of this policy does not apply while he/she is training or playing with that adult team.

Boroughmuir Rugby Academy acknowledges its responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of all children in Boroughmuir Rugby Academy from harm.
Boroughmuir Rugby Academy recognises that all children have the right to participate in rugby union in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment whilst at the same time being protected from abuse, neglect or poor practice.
Boroughmuir Rugby Academy confirms that it adheres to the Scottish Rugby Safeguarding Policy and the procedures, guidelines, and practices contained in that document and any successor policy.
Boroughmuir Rugby Academy confirms that it will appoint a Child Protection Officer (CPO) at the club. Their details will be available within the clubhouse and on the club website. The CPO will undergo Safeguarding training as directed by Scottish Rugby.
Boroughmuir Rugby Academy agrees that all allegations or suspicions of abuse, neglect, harm or poor practice will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly, fairly and appropriately.
Boroughmuir Rugby Academy recognises that all children have the right to expect that their participation in rugby union will be supported and delivered by suitably recruited, vetted and managed staff, whether they are volunteering or officiating.
All members of Boroughmuir Rugby Academy who undertake regulated work must be member of the PVG Scheme with a Scheme Record Update if necessary.
Boroughmuir Rugby Academy acknowledges the Disclosure Scotland referrals process and agrees to action a referral if required.
Boroughmuir Rugby Academy agrees that any tours, oversees or domestic must comply with the relevant Scottish Rugby Regulations and Guidance relating to tours.
