Where did the summer go? Normally a quieter time of year for our Rugby Development Team – not so much the case this year!
Club Development Officer Ross Young joined the Boroughmuir Under 18’s coaching team, taking up the role of Head Coach supported by Graham Scott, Ron Carr, Craig Alexander and Sean Brady.
In July the Rugby Development Team delivered Boroughmuir’s first ever Summer Camp which was a huge Success with over 30 participants across the week all of whom enjoyed themselves with the Rugby Olympics day being a particular highlight.
Rory and Callum Marjoribanks said “It was the best camp ever!” Praise indeed!!
We plan to deliver something similar in the October holidays and we will be confirming details of this shortly, watch this space...
Ross Young would like to thank those who supported the Summer Camp and made it happen, and particularly big thank you to Rory Scott who has been our Modern Apprentice Community Coach for the past year who dedicated a lot of time and effort to the camp. Rory graduated from Scottish Rugby’s MACC course at the tail end of July and plans to continue playing at Boroughmuir and help out with the coaching of the Under 15’s for the time being.
With Rory graduating we were on the lookout for a suitable replacement and we appear to have found one in the shape of Under 18 hooker Lewis Robinson. Lewis has played at Boroughmuir for the past 6 years as well as through the Edinburgh pathway programme.
Now coming to work under the wing of Ross Young, Lewis will be responsible for a lot of our delivery out in the local community working with Primary and Secondary schools as well as helping out with some of the youth section squads too.
