New Bears Academy
Boroughmuir are delighted to announce the formal launch of our Bears Academy.
Our Bears Academy will develop young, ambitious and talented players who aspire to play Super6 rugby and is a key part of our pathway for school leavers making their way into senior rugby.
Players in our Bears Academy will receive holistic support tailored to realise the best of their talents. They’ll train with the Bears and they will receive additional gym sessions, nutrition support and sports psychology. They’ll hone these skills playing for the club in National league, with regular assessment and feedback on their progress towards Super6.
Our Bears Academy will be run by our Youth Academy Performance Manager, Alex Toolis, with support from Graham Shiel, our Bears Head Coach.
This Bears Academy is the natural next stage for many of our talented 18 year old players graduating from our very successful Boroughmuir Youth Academy, it will also cater for those students seeking further education away from home and is open to all young players with aspiration and capability - no matter their background.
Richard Lockhart, our u18 head Coach, said, ”We see the Bears Academy as offering an unrivalled development opportunity for young players entering the adult game.”
Alex Toolis, Academy Performance Manager, said, “We are an ambitious club hungry for success and see the Bears Academy as a way of both developing individuals and improving standards throughout our club.”
