Portobello U15s re Boroughmuir U15s
The U15s were a little match rusty after the October break and it showed in our tackling in the first half, conceding several tries. They went on to improve considerably in the second half - having fewer members of the team playing out of position helped too.
Great tackling by Jacob, Abdel and a try saving tackle from our lock Jamie after a long chase down the wing. Some good work by two of the U15s new members, Robbie and Josh, led to a couple of good breaks with Josh crashing through the defence on his second break, leading to his first try and our man of the match award.
Many thanks to Portobello for lending us a few players to even up the numbers.
S2 v Heriots
Heriots asked for game to be postponed until December.
S1 v Heriots
Heriots 46, Boroughmuir, 7, The score does not reflect the effort the boys put in. It has been a few weeks since we had a competitive match, due to weather and holidays, and maybe the tackling wasn't as effective as it should have been and our attacking line up wasn't as deep as it should have been but the effort was 1st class.
The Boroughmuir tries were taken very well and the only tackle that raised a cheer from the Boroughmuir support was performed by Seamus.
Biggar next week and with no rust to bother us a far better performance is expected.
P7 - Portobello Tournament
First up were Watsons and a lot of the play was excellent and the hard work in training has certainly paid off with great support play and offloads leading to some great scores.
A well-deserved 4 - 0 win was a great start and set us up nicely against the host team.
The boys carried on where they left off and ran out comfortable winners 6 -1.
This was our best performance so far this season, and not just because we won both games, but because of the quality of rugby played.
It was a great team effort and well done to all the P7's today.
