Under 18 Edinburgh & Lothian League – 3rd Year Win on the Trot for Boroughmuir Colts
The Colts match against Lasswade in the Edinburgh and Lothian League, which was long overdue, started almost in the first minute with a drop kick from Iain Martin. The match then became somewhat physical for the forward’s but they managed to keep things together, and were able to get the ball to Jamie Summers who ran in the first try. Ian Martin then converted the try, and after a few minutes added to that with a penalty kick.
Lasswade came back at Boroughmuir for quite some time, and things became very physical again, but after a great forward’s push, Connor McCormack went over for a try. The second half started with Lasswade determined not to give up, but Boroughmuir were now on a roll. The forwards were working hard, and getting the ball back to Connor Young, he ran in another try.
Boroughmuir were now looking how they played earlier in the season – physical, fast and controlled. Forwards and backs were working well together. Robin Sloan had a great run, and passing to Lewis McSporran, another try was run in. This was followed by another quick try from a scorching run from Harry Smith.
Lasswade kept their head ups, and kept playing, but with a kick forward from Boroughmuir, Lewis McSporran got the ball and ran in his second try. Time was now short and the whistle was expected at any time, but then with a good back’s break and run, Jamie Summer got the ball to Harry again, and the last try of the match went over.
All tries were converted by Iain Martin. Although the Colts already knew they had won the Edinburgh and Lothian’s league, this was now an unbeaten win.
