P7 Weekend Reports

Saturday 20th April

Boroughmuir 6 – 9 West of Scotland

West started the game very strongly and showed Boroughmuir it was going to be hard afternoon, especially in the breakdowns, where the West rucking was first class all day.

After West scoring a few tries we managed to get ourselves back in to the game and at half time trailed 4 tries to 2. The second half was again a very close affair and our performance was much better and matched West just about the whole way through. The second half finished with West outscoring us by only 1 try. The game was a credit to both teams and they all just wanted to play rugby and the game was played with great spirit. Well done to all the players and a big thankyou to West for coming through.

Sunday 21st April

RHC Tournament

We headed down to Barnton after a great run out the day before against West with high expectations. And the team certainly did not let us down.

From the first whistle of the opening game to the last whistle of our final game our performance the whole day was fantastic. The boys grew in confidence and their teamwork was great. Communication was also much better with everybody wanting the ball and we ran in some very well worked tries.

We were unbeaten in all of our 5 games today and only had 1 try scored against us the whole day which was a credit to the boys and their overall performance.

Well done to all the boys for all their efforts over the weekend.

RHC Festival: A Good Day at the Office

On a sunny rainy, rainy sunny afternoon at Barnton, we attended the RHC Cougars home tournament. Hot on the heels of a good showing the previous week, the boys were all ready for some new opposition.

First up was the Currie 2nd team. From the whistle the players reacted quickly and put in an immediate score.

Good support play and tackling allowed us to control the game coming out 7 tries to 2 winners. Next game was against the Currie 1st team. With the disappointment of Biggar ringing in their ears, the team put in one of their best ever performances.

From the off, the boys were playing hard ball in all areas, tackling, rucking, support, offloading, to come out clear winners, 6 tries to 1. Next up was RHC - again the team played a very well structured game, which allowed us a solid scoring platform giving us a good 7 tries to nil victory. Our last match was against a gritty Murrayfield Wanderers team.

MW gave us a few anxious moments, but the players 'steadied the boat' and started to play the solid structured rugby that we have been practising at training. A good win with 4 tries to 1.

All in all a very good performance from all the players and a good warm up for the Currie Tournament next week.
