Excitement is building in the household of one lucky young Boroughmuir player as the autumn tests approach. Fred Entwistle has been chosen to represent Boroughmuir as a mascot at the Scotland v Japan game at Murrayfield next weekend.
Fred, who is now in his second season with the minis, received a letter from Scotland coach Scott Johnson, as well as his Scotland kit, and is really excited at the prospect of walking out on to the Murrayfield pitch with his favourite Scotland players.
We recently caught up with Fred to ask him a few questions about rugby and being a mascot.
Q. What team do you play for and do you have a favourite position?
A. Bouroughmuir Primary 4s. We don’t have positions yet.
Q. How long have you played rugby?
A. Since Primary 3
Q. What do you enjoy most about rugby at Boroughmuir?
A. Tackling. Meeting new friends. Learning from the coaches. Keeping my muscles fit. Passing. All of it!
Q. What is your Favourite rugby moment?
A. Getting my first trophy at the Boroughmuir Tournament.
Q. Who is your favourite Boroughmuir player?
A. Andy Rose, because he is the captain.
Q. Who is your favourite Scotland player?
A. Matt Scott, because he is young and fast.
Q. Have you been to Murrayfield to see a Scotland game before and did they win
A. This will be my first time. My Mum has been one time before and she saw Scotland beat England.
Q. What are you looking forward to most about being a mascot?
A. Being on TV. Meeting the team and getting autographs. Getting free tickets to see the match. The big cheer when we come out the tunnel. Everything!
Good luck Fred, we hope you have a really great time next Saturday.
