 Boroughmuir S2: 11 - 27 :GHA S2

After two very close games last season against a strong GHA side, we knew that today was going to be more of the same. Conditions were perfect with the sun shining and a warm afternoon for all the players.

The first half saw GHA come out strong and were immediately in the attack. GHA were certainly more determined at the break down and turned over a lot of Boroughmuir ball in the 1st half.

The first try came from a lineout on the Muir 22 and the GHA hooker threw a great ball to the tail for their back row to catch and evade a tackle to break the Muir defence.

The 2nd try involved a few good passages of play ending with the GHA winger scoring in the corner and then a further try just before half time came from a GHA player managing to rip the ball 5m out to drive over the line. Muir had a few chances but just failed to capitalise and trailed GHA by 3 tries to nil - Half-Time: 0 - 12
The second half was a much improved performance with Muir managing to retain more ball and put some pressure on the GHA defence. The first Muir try came from a GHA attack on the half way where Muir managed to steal the ball and run in from 50m. Muir managed to score another 2 tries to GHA's 4 in the 2nd half. Another try not securing ruck ball for the GHA player to just pick up and go through the middle for an easy run in, and one from a missed touchdown in our own dead ball area for GHA to take advantage.

A very strong performance from GHA gave Muir a lot to work on and highlighted areas we need to improve at to get where we need to be.

Thanks to everyone who came down to support and saw a very entertaining game of Youth rugby.

Boroughmuir S1: 28 - 3 :GHA S1

This week's game saw us drawn against a well turned out GHA side, over
from Glasgow to have one of their first games of the season at
Meggetland. Building on our hard work through P7, we have been working
hard to put some needed structure into or rugby and continue learning
and playing those defence and attack lines, adjusted for the 15 a-side
game. First of the halves saw us kick off the game to a waiting GHA
side. A high kick allowed us to get runners underneath and pressure GHA
from the off. The Muir Baba's were working well and turned over a few of
the GHA rucks to provide us with a good position to attack from. We
moved the ball wide and attacked up our flanks which gave Josh and Fin H
a try in each of the corners, converted well by Stuart. The forwards
were starting to take control with some good runs coming from Callum
Mac, Daniel and Arif, while Calum R, lewis and Brad were doing a good
job in closing down any free running GHA were hoping to do. The second
half was a well fought by both teams, however, two great team efforts
saw Arif and Daniel touch down for another two tries. However, GHA were
not out of it by any means and a spirited GHA side put in a few runs of
their own. With some great passing finished by a great run put in GHA
for a good score. The third half some some more close action. GHA were
starting to mount some stern challenges for us and had us pinned back on
our line a number of times, which saw us use a few of our 'get out of
jail....' cards! With both teams tiring Josh took the opportunity to get
on the end of some nice passing by Stuart, Innes and Nathan to stick in
three tries. Final whistle goes for a Boroughmuir win! Tackle of the
game goes to Douglas for that lovely last man take down - well done!.
Well done to Sonny for all your hard work in the scrum and some
impressive open play and to Akira for controlling the chaos between the
forwards and backs! It was good to see some hard work
and great effort put in by all the players to make it look as though
this was their 200th game rather than just their 2nd, although we do
have some stuff to work! A big thank you as always to our support and to
the S1 catering team - thoroughly enjoyed it!
